Re:sort 시리즈는 퇴역 군함을 중심으로 형성된 전우회를 추적한다. 휴식처로서의 'resort'와 개념을 다시 분류하고 정의한다는 're-sort'의 의미를 함께 담고 있다.
중년은 은퇴와 전역, 실직과 창업 같은 변화 속에서 새로운 전환점을 맞는 시기이다. 이 공동체는 지난날을 돌아보고 앞날을 가늠하는 자리가 되기도 한다. 군함 위에서 보낸 젊은 날의 회상부터 오늘의 고민까지, 평범하고도 특별한 이야기들이 그 안에서 오간다.
나는 퇴역한 군함을 둘러싼 관계와 사건, 사물들을 따라 갔다. 누군가 간직해온 앨범, 함상 공원으로서 새로운 출발을 시작한 군함, 해마다 이어지는 공동체의 모임 같은 것들이다. 빠르게 변하는 사회 속에서 자기 자리를 다시 찾아가는 이들을 기록해 나갔다.
The Re:sort series traces a veterans' association formed around a decommissioned naval warship. The title carries a double meaning: "resort" as a place of rest, and "re-sort" as the act of reclassifying and redefining a concept.
Middle age is a time of new turning points, shaped by transitions such as retirement, discharge from service, job loss, or starting a new venture. This community becomes a place to look back on the past and gauge what lies ahead. From memories of youth spent aboard the warship to present-day concerns, ordinary yet singular stories circulate within it.
I followed the relationships, events, and objects surrounding the decommissioned warship: an album someone had kept, the ship itself beginning a new chapter as a maritime park, the community's annual gatherings. Amid a rapidly changing society, I documented those in the process of relocating their place within it.
